LONGFELLOW PARK

Planning Resources Inc. has developed a park master plan and construction documents for the residents of Oak Park that will not only provide new amenities and activities, but also improve and utilize existing park features.

The major design challenge was how to effectively and economically redevelop and create new recreation opportunities in the site while maintaining an existing lower level play space given today's ADA requirements and the need for recreational inclusion and integrated play. The final design eliminates the lower play area by raising the elevation to become equal to street level; thus maximizing the site's play value. In addition, the park master plan was awarded an Access to Recreation Grant by the W.K. Kellog Foundation which is awarded for parks meeting the universal access guidelines.
